Why Primary Childcare Consulting?
/So what is Primary Childcare Consulting? And most importantly what are we all about?
Before I answer this lets watch this You Tube clip "The Social Womb" by Dr J. Ronald Lally:
There are SO many things to contemplate what is being emphasised in this clip. Especially, the analogy of "The Social Womb." If you stop to think about it, you and everyone surrounding your baby or the child in your care, is the womb now carrying this child. Everything we do and say, including the interactions, environments and experiences we provide for this child, creates their social womb. These things can be thought of as the placenta and umbilical cord on the outside, giving our children life to help them grow and develop. So if these aren't of a high standard, if they are not high quality and not right, then our children's development can and will suffer.
I don't know if I can speak for all mother's, but when I was pregnant I monitored a lot of what i did, ate and basically breathed, keeping in mind I wanted to provide the best environment for my baby to grow inside me. I did worry about her development- her brain, her organs, her limbs, and her developing healthy inside me was always at the forefront of my mind. So, it makes sense that as soon as our children are born we are to do the same, just on a larger and different scale. A scale that includes more people and the interactions, experiences and environments these people provide for the child.
As stated by Dr. Lally in the video, in the first three years, an infants brain is making connections with people and places and forming the skills (communication and thinking) which will be used for their success in life. He also stated that the human brain is adapting and developing more rapidly in infancy than any other subsequent period of life. And it does. Its is a fact that in the first two years, the human brain triples in size. An average newborn babies brain weighs 333 grams at birth. By the time the child is two their brain weighs 999grams. As Paediatrician Dr. Dimitri Christikas explains in one of his Tedx talks (entitled Media and Children), there is a lot of connections and synapses which form during this growth period and these connections form based on the baby/toddlers early experiences, which condition the mind for everything. He states that child is born with 2500 synapses and by the age of three has 15000 connections formed in their brain based on the experiences we provide for them. So, if this is the case, wouldn't you agree that the care we provide for our children is so incredibly important and not something to be taken lightly? That all care society offers to children should be nothing short of High Quality?
In helping to create this strong social womb, Dr Lally refers to three key policies which research has shown that has huge gains for babies and society. The first, Paid Parental leave for at least nine months, to give parents an opportunity to bond with their babies; the second Home visits continuing for the first two years and the third High Quality, Affordable, Infant Toddler Care "When society guarantees high quality care when they return to work babies and parents will prosper." I know Dr Lally, refers to the American system when he speaks about these policies, however in my opinion exactly the same goes for our Australian system and every system in all countries.
Here at Primary Childcare Consulting, we aim to help with the last policy. High Quality, Affordable, Infant Toddler Care. Whether its through our consulting packages for parents, in helping them in their search for high quality care in their area, our e-books which aim to educate them on this; our packages which endeavour to assist Businesses who provide a childcare service, provide a high quality childcare experience for the children and families in their care; or through our blog; we believe in helping to create a strong social womb for every child in our society and are aiming to do what we can to aid with this. This is why I as the business owner has set up this company. So all Parents and Primary Care givers in our society, who are responsible for the care and education of the youngest humans of our society, have the opportunity to make sure they are able to provide, or find services which provide, only the best care, nothing less!
For now,
Jane :)
